Besides Gravity taking it home, Leo somehow missing out on an Oscar, again… neutral and bridal-inspired gowns were on trend for last nights Oscars, and how could I not LOVE LOVE LOVE a red carpet like that?!
If you want to rock the aisle in a chic gown, take a note from last night’s swoon worthy Academy Awards.
NAOMI WATTS in Calvin Klein
A simple, classic sheath-silhouette that hugs and showcases all the right curves. Serious props to watts for making a classic gown edgy with her choice of geometric necklace and clutch with black shoes.
KRISTEN BELL in Roberto Cavalli & LAURA DERN in Alberta Ferretti
I could literally see these gowns in any bridal magazine, TOMORROW! While they screams bridal, they were both pulled off red-carpet style and they’re stunning. (If I didn’t already have a wedding gown picked out – It would be a toss up between these two. I would absolutely pair either one with a cathedral veil! Yes, please!)
GIULIANA RANCIC in Pablo Sebastian
While I love this gown, it could look better on a different body shape. Personally I think Rancic is too skinny – but body type aside, any princess could walk down the aisle in this.
MARIA MENOUNOS in Johanna Johnson
Maria’s gown was my 2nd favorite of the night. It’s a beautiful style, and the extra detailing on the shoulders and waist give it just a touch of excitement. It’s not overwhelming and for some reason, I’m obsessed with the sleeve. It’s not just any old sleeve it’s detailed and it happens to be the perfect length.
Want something modern, chic, or not bridal-like you can absolutely have a gown that goes from the aisle to the red carpet!
Props to the stylists who did it right this year. I will forever love the bridal-inspired neutrals that showcased last night.
As you search for THE dress or gown of your dreams, enjoy the process. Use the red carpet as inspiration – a glass of red & to-do list should get you through.
